Socialist Make Great Entertainers

Except for Joy Behar, of course.

Hugo Chavez’s mouthpiece is claiming that the USA caused the earthquake in Haiti with a secret weapon.  Perhaps this is done to direct the focus away from Chavez’s paltry initial response to the crisis, which it is now seeking to rectify after criticism from the US.

No doubt Danny Glover is on board with little Hugo.  I wonder why?

Rules For Radioers

Posted by carmelcutthroat on January 21, 2010

Air American has gone bankrupt.  I don’t know why, they followed all the rules for success.

Rule #1.  Have something idiotic to say.

Rule #2.  Endeavour to establish a “kook” fringe base.

Rule #3.  If necessary, be a martyr to the cause.  Go belly up during a progressive administration before the implementation of the fairness doctrine, your democrat masters need a pretext.

Rule #4.  In a post-fairness doctrine era become “too big to fail.”

Rule #5. Avoid interviewing Al Gore during the winter months, he always leaves a snow storm in his wake.

Rule #6. Play the race and Ted Kennedy cards at every opportunity.

feel free to add some of your own rules in the combox.

Update: Latest Podcast On St Matthew

Posted by carmelcutthroat on January 21, 2010

St Irenaeus Ministries has posted its fourth podcast on the Gospel of Matthew.  Below you will find a description of the latest podcast, followed by links to the four episodes.

Matthew and the other synoptic gospels emphasize Jesus’ mission in Galilee, where most of the Gospel was spread. Jesus sought to keep this ministry moving slowly so that the ministry would not be derailed. In this part of the ministry, He healed people of physical and spiritual illnesses and preached a compassionate message to the poor, including the Beatitudes. This compassion is not simply being nice to each other, but requires action on our part. We must be pure-minded in seeking out God, we must forgive people and not hold grudges, and we must not make a show of our faith. The closing theme is Gerard Satamian’s Chansons Sans Paroles Op. 2 Pastorale, from the album Dry Fig Trees. http://www.magnatune.com

Episode One: Genealogy and Pregnancy (43 min.)
Episode Two: Messianic Prophecies.  (38 min)
Episode Three: John The Baptist.  (43 min)
Episode Four: Ministry In Galilee.  (38 min)

The St Irenaeus site can be found here.  Be sure to check out their archives for past shows.  Full presentations on Luke, Hebrews, Peter/Jude are currently available.  In addition, they have samples of other podcast series (Hosea, Isaiah, John etc)  which are fully available on CD from their online store.

Spiritual Thought: January 21st

Posted by carmelcutthroat on January 21, 2010

Although God “dwells in unapproachable light,”8 He speaks to man he means of the whole of the universe: “ever since the creation of the world his invisible nature, namely, his eternal power and deity, has been clearly perceived in the things that have been made.”9 This indirect and imperfect knowledge, achieved by the intellect seeking God by means of creatures through the visible world, falls short of “vision of the Father.” “No one has ever seen God,” writes St. John, in order to stress the truth that “the only Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he has made him known.”10 This “making known” reveals God in the most profound mystery of His being, one and three, surrounded by “unapproachable light.”11 Nevertheless, through this “making known” by Christ we know God above all in His relationship of love for man: in His “philanthropy.”12 It is precisely here that “His invisible nature” becomes in a special way “visible,” incomparably more visible than through all the other “things that have been made”: it becomes visible in Christ and through Christ, through His actions and His words, and finally through His death on the cross and His resurrection.

In this way, in Christ and through Christ, God also becomes especially visible in His mercy; that is to say, there is emphasized that attribute of the divinity which the Old Testament, using various concepts and terms, already defined as “mercy.” Christ confers on the whole of the Old Testament tradition about God’s mercy a definitive meaning. Not only does He speak of it and explain it by the use of comparisons and parables, but above all He Himself makes it incarnate and personifies it. He Himself, in a certain sense, is mercy. To the person who sees it in Him – and finds it in Him – God becomes “visible” in a particular way as the Father who is rich in mercy.~Pope John Paul II

25 Lest you be wise in your own conceits, I want you to understand this mystery, brethren: a hardening has come upon part of Israel, until the full number of the Gentiles come in, 26 and so all Israel will be saved; as it is written, “The Deliverer will come from Zion, he will banish ungodliness from Jacob”; 27 “and this will be my covenant with them when I take away their sins.” 28 As regards the gospel they are enemies of God, for your sake; but as regards election they are beloved for the sake of their forefathers. 29 For the gifts and the call of God are irrevocable. 30 Just as you were once disobedient to God but now have received mercy because of their disobedience, 31 so they have now been disobedient in order that by the mercy shown to you they also may receive mercy. 32 For God has consigned all men to disobedience, that he may have mercy upon all.
33 O the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! 34 “For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor?” 35 “Or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid?” 36 For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory for ever. Amen ~Rom. 11:25-36
